A healthy & wholesome lentil recipe
Dal / lentil are a very essential part of Indian meals .Without lentil any Indian meal is incomplite .Different region of India have their own unique way of making any lentil .Also in many recipe of we cook lentil & vegetable / green leaf together to make it wholesome meal . Today I am going to share with you a delicious recipe of lentil using spinach leaf .This can be prepared with moong dal ,toor dal ,chana dal or masur dal .Today I am going to use chana dal in this recipe . You can use any other dal as per your choice .

Total time: 30~35 min
Chana dal - Aprox 80 gm /5~6 tbsp
Spinach - 200~250 gm
Onion choped - 1 medium
Ginger choped - 1/2 tsp
Garlic choped - 1~1.5 tsp
Green chilli choped - 2
Tomato - 1 medium~large
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp or as per taste
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1/4~1/2 tsp
Cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
Dry red chilli - 2
Choped coriander leaf
Salt to taste
Oil / ghee - 2~2.5 tbsp
Wash & soak chana dal in warm water for 15~20 minute .
Wash spinach leaf properly . Atleast for 2~3 times
Now pressure cook dal by adding aprox 2 cup of water with salt & turmeric . With this add the whole tomato .Pressure cook one whistle on high flame & keep the flame low & cook for aprox 5 minute .Switch off the flame.
At the same time keep everything ready .finely chop spinach separately the stem part & leaf part for uniform texture .
Chop onion , ginger,garlic & green chilli.
When cooker release the pressure remove the lid & check whether dal is cooked properly or not .
Now heat oil/ghee in a kadai .
Add cumin seed & red chilli & let it crackle .
Add choped ginger , garlic & onion .
Cook on low flame till onion become translucent .
Add chopet green chilli & saute for few second .
Add the cooked tomato & mix well .
Saute it for few second .
Add red chilli powder, coriander powder & garam masala powder & mix well
Add choped spinach stem & mix well .
Add choped spinach leaf & cook on low flame for few minute .Let the spinach leaf become soft .
Now with this add cooked chana dal & mix well .
Cook for few more minute. You can adjust the consistancy as per your choice .Finaly add choped coriander leaf .
Now Dal Palak is ready to be served .Enjoy with simple steam rice , rooti or paratha .
