Leftover rice Manchurian

A yummy dish by using leftover rice


We always have some leftover rice in our kitchen & we always wonder how to use it effectively.Generaly we prepare any kind of fried rice from leftover rice. Today I am going to share a yummy indo-chinese recipe by using leftover rice & some vegetables .

Cooking Time: 20 min

Total time: 35~ 40 min


Ingredients

for manchurian balls

  • leftover cooked rice - 1~1.5 cup

  • Grated cabbage - 1 cup

  • Grated carrot - 1.2 cup

  • Corn flour - 1 tbsp

  • Ginger garlic grated - 1 tsp

  • Soya sauce - 1/4 ~1/2 tsp

  • Kashmiri red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil for cooking

For gravy

  • Finely choped onion - 1 small

  • Capsicum - 1 small piece (aprox 3 tbsp)

  • Finely choped garlic - 1/2 tbsp

  • Finely choped ginger - 1 tsp

  • Choped green chilli - 2

  • Spring onion green - 2 tbsp

  • Tomato sauce - 1~1.5 tbsp

  • Red chilli sauce - 1 tsp

  • Soya sauce - 1/2 tsp

  • Vinegar - 1 tsp

  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp

  • Salt to taste


Procedure

Step 1

Chop all vegetables keep it ready .

Step 2

With the help of a blender grind the rice without adding any water. Can also mash it by using your hand.


Step 3

Now add cabbage,carrot,corn flour, soya sauce , red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste/grated & salt.

Make sure to squeeze cabbage & carrot before adding & keep the water aside .


Add everything & mix it well .


Step 4

Heat some oil in a pan/kadai on medium flame .


Make small balls & fry on medium flame till golden brown .


Step 5

Now remove all excess oil & keep only 1 tbsp of oil .

Step 6

Add choped ginger & garlic .Saute for few second on medium flame. Do not brown it

Add choped onion & green chilli .Saute it till onion become translusent .

Now add choped capsicum & spring onion . Saute it .

Step 7

Add all sauce & vinegar .mix well

Add 1/4 tsp of corn flour to the cabbage water & make a slurry

Add to the sauce mixture & mix well. You can adjust the amount of gravy as per your choice .

Drop the fried balls to the gravy & mix well and cook for 1 more minute .

Finally add 1/4 ~1/2 tsp black pepper powder & mix well .Taste and add salt if required . Because all sauce contains salt already .

Garnish some spring onion green & white sesame seed & serve hot .
