Mutton Sukka

A easy to prepare delicious South Indian recipe


Mutton sukka is a lip smacking cuisine from south india. The word sukka means dry curry .You can easily prepare this recipe with easily available ingredient.This is a spicy dry preparation of mutton but in our family no one like too much of spices,so here i reduced the amount of red chilli powder. This mutton recipe goes well with rice.

Preparation Time: 10 min

Cooking Time: 25 min.

Total time: 35 min.


Ingredients

  • Mutton - 500gm

  • Onion chopped- 2 medium

  • Tomato -1 small

  • Bay leaf-2

  • Curry leaves-1 sprig

  • Cinnamon stick-1 ~2 inch

  • Dry red chilli- 2

  • Green chilli-2

  • Fennel seed-1 tsp

  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp

  • Red chilli powder as per taste

  • Kashmiri red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp

  • Fennel powder- 1/2 tsp

  • Ginger garlic paste-1.5 tbsp

  • Corriender powder - 1 tbsp

  • Garam masala powder- 1/2 tsp

  • Black pepper powder- 1 tsp

  • Oil for cooking- 2~3 tbsp

  • Salt to taste

Procedure

Step 1

Wash the mutton properly and remove the fat if any. Pressure cook it for 12 ~13 minute by adding 1 cup of water,1 ~2 pinch turmeric powder,salt,1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste,corriender powder 1/4 tsp,cinnamon stick & 1 bay leaf.

Open the cooker when it release the pressure.

Step 2

Now in a kadai heat somne oil and add bay leaf, fennel seed, dry red chilli & let the fennel seed crackle.

Step 3

Add ginger garlic paste .Fry for a minute &let the raw smell go away

Add onion ,green chilli &curry leaf .Fry till it become translusent.

Step 4

Add chopped tomato, corriender powder,fennel powder,garam masala powder,salt,turmeric powder,chilli powder & mix well.




Step 5

Now add cooked mutton and on medium flame cook it without covering it till the mutton becomes dry completely.

Add black pepper powder ,mix well & switch off the flame.

Now mutton sukka is ready to be served.
