Vermicelli upma/Semiya upma
A simple and healthy breakfast recipe
Vermiclli upma is a popular easy to prepare and light breakfast recipe.

Total time: 25 min.
Ingredients (2 servings)
oil/ghee for cooking
Mustard seed-1/2 tsp
Chopped ginger-1/2 inch
Onion-1 medium slice
Pea nut- 1~2 tbsp
Some chopped veggies-1 cup(here I have used carrot,beans and some belpepper .you can also use green peas )
Salt to taste
Black pepper powder-1/4 tsp
Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan/kadai and roast the vermicelli on low flame till golden brown. At the same time boil some water with 1-2 pinch of salt in other pan.
When vermicelli become golden brown add the hot water to it and let the vermicelli cook. Do not over cook it.
When it cook properly strain it with the help of a strainer and rinse it so that the cooking process of vermicelli will stop.

Heat 1 tbsp of oil/ghee in a pan/kadai.Add mustard seed and let it crackle
Add pea nut,ginger,green chilli & curry leaf.and fry it
Add onion and fry for 1~2 minute on medium flame
Add all veggies except belpepper,cook for 2 more minute and add belpepper and cook for few more minute till it become slightly soft.don't over cook .the belpepper should be slightly crunchy.
Add vermicelli,salt to taste and black pepper powder.Mix well.cook for 1 more minute.
Finially add few drops of lemon juice,if lemon is not available add few drops of vinegar and mix .Now Vermicelli upma is ready to be served.
